Every year property website Zoopla publishes a ‘property rich list’ which details the most expensive areas and streets in the country on which to buy houses. The data is very comprehensive and there is a dedicated section for each county and town.

The data for Manchester makes very interesting reading indeed, so here we will go through some of the best places to buy depending on your circumstances and budget. As ever, contacting an estate agents in Manchester in your desired area is always the best way to go.

To be clear, the area we are looking at is Greater Manchester and the central and suburban areas within it. Far an away the most expensive town in Manchester is Altrincham. It boasts the top 10 most expensive streets in Greater Manchester, with South Downs Drive being number one. The street has an average house price of over 2.2 million pounds!

Unsurprisingly then, Altrincham holds the top two most expensive areas by post code and the top spot for highest value town within Greater Manchester. Also in the suburbs of central Manchester are Cheadle, Sale and Stockport – occupying second, third and fourth in the list of highest value towns.

Unless you are a millionaire or at least incredibly rich then, purchasing a home in these areas is likely to be beyond your reach. If it is still suburban living you’re looking for in Manchester there are still options. Lower down the list are places like Bury, Bolton and Hyde. They offer similarly good access to Manchester itself and the city centre, the benefits of suburban living and at a lower price than the likes of Altrincham and Cheadle.

Indeed, Manchester itself is listed near the bottom of the higher value towns, making it both desirable and affordable. If we look at Manchester city centre, for those that want city centre living, the fact that the suburbs can be SO expensive is a good thing.

Any Manchester estate agents will tell you that the amount of property on the market in the city centre is pushing prices slowly down and there are now several M postcode areas on the Lowest Value list. However, because most of the property in the city centre is new the quality of the homes is often higher than the price would suggest.

Admittedly, these are mainly studio, one and two bed apartments so if you are looking for a house then you are still going to have to look just outside of the centre. of the city. Two towns that really do jump off the lists because of price and location are the aforementioned Hyde and Ashton-under-Lyne. Both are just minutes from the city centre but have an average house price of 131,556 and 109,851 pounds respectively.

That matches the low and middle income individuals and families quite well. Obviously, within those towns there will be higher and lower prices but as a starting point this is ideal. Speaking to estate agents within those areas will give you vital information from which you can make an informed decision.

The same goes for the city centre – there are many dedicated Manchester city centre estate agents you can contact to get the information you need to find the right property at the right price within the right area for you and your budget and circumstances.
